These two moths are new to my garden in Merton, in the trap this morning. I think the first is Oak Nycteoline and the second Dotted Rustic? Sorry pictures aren't great.
Hello Linda, I agree with both. Dotted Rustic is a nice record of a seemingly declining species. Ten years ago it was fairly regular in the garden here but since then I've only seen half a dozen anywhere in Bucks and none at all since 2019.
Thanks very much Dave. I've checked back through my records and have never trapped Dotted Rustic here before (or Oak Nycteoline) and don't think I've ever seen one. Have had quite a variety turning up this year that I don't often see.
