Hello Andrew The photos are rather dark but it is still possible to come to a conclusion on their IDs: the first is an Acrobasis (from shape) and it has a red head so must be Acrobasis advenella. The second is indeed a tortrix in the area of Lobesia, but the yellowish markings within the white areas confirm that it is actually Piniphila bifasciana.
Thank you very much. Yes rather dark and I will try to get lighter ones but excellent that they were still identifiable. Most useful comment about shape too. I have had the most successful nights I have ever had in the last month - it seems a good year for these mid-summer moths.

Just seen that I had put Acrobasis advenella as possible for the first one... I am getting there slowly! Thank you again. Andrew
