As conditions looked promising for migrants I ran two MVs in fields to the SW of Fernham in Oxfordshire (VC22 Berks). After a chilly start the skies clouded over and a small fall of migrants arrived just after midnight, including 9 Plutella xylostella (Diamond-back), 1 Humming-bird Hawk-moth, 1 Small Mottled Willow and 5 Silver Y. There was also a small influx of Angle Shades and Straw Dot, the later being reported from many sites last night.
52 species were recorded before the easterly wind picked up at 2am, including a Buttoned Snout.
Back home in Highworth (just over the border in Wilts) I had another Small Mottled Willow in the trap.
