More at the Museum

Because of the better-than-July weather, I was hoping for a some summer moths last night. Obviously that ain't going to happen, but I did get a few NFY including Semioscopis steinkellneriana, Double-striped Pug, Common Pug, Powdered Quaker, Early Tooth-striped, Waved Umber. Plus these:

 Assuming this is Caloptilia semifascia?

Also any ideas on this micro? I forgot to have any pots with me so couldn't retain it!

  1. I agree with semifascia, the other looks like a Phyllocnistis sp?

  2. Thanks Peter! I can now see the black spot and P. unipunctella would be the most likely of those based on habitat &c.

  3. Phyllocnistis saligna (which your example isn't) is fairly distinctive but the others of that genus are almost impossible to tell apart as adults so unfortunately it would have needed chopping to get safely to species. Nice to see an improvement in picture quality, you are obviously starting to get to grips with your new camera!!
