Pammene albuginana


 

This came to the FUN lure in my West Oxon garden this morning. I think it may be pammene albuginana It is listed as a non-target species. Comments welcome...

  1. Hi Nic,
    I wouldn't be happy determining this to species without dissection. Pammene suspectana also comes to the FUN lure and looks very much like this too. It is supposed to be rare but these lures seem to be proving otherwise.

The Moth pheromone trap facebook page suggests that albuginana and suspectana can't be separated from the forewings but albuginana has pale hindwings with a dark border whereas suspectana has uniform dark hindwings. I've never tried looking! I had 8 last year to the FUN lure that all turned out to be suspectana when dissected.

  3. There are subtle wing pattern differences. Patrick Clement worked it out last year, but I can't remember what he said now.
