I was going to report the spread of the Gipsy moth to Thrupp after finding this chap sitting demurely on his leaf above the trap this morning, but fortunately I checked back to the first time I saw this species - in Walthamstow in daylight on 12 August 2019 courtesy of my hawk-eyed granddaughter. In the process I discovered my Thrupp record of two arriving here on 19 August last year. Age and memory, eh. My first Red Underwing came last night as well. I await the Dark Crimson eagerly.
