This afternoon I was surprised to pot a single Mompha langiella from the inside of our bathroom window. There are 4 previous modern records for VC23. The MV runs almost directly below but has not been used for over 3 weeks. There is very little in the way of potential foodplant around and it is very unlikely that it hitched a ride home with me. I have no facilities to take usable photos of a thing that size.
Hi Martin,
ReplyDeleteNice record! I agree it would be unlikely that you'd find Enchanter's Nightshade locally to you but I imagine there will be some of the willow-herbs around which it apparently also uses.
Regarding photos, a lot of my pictures these days are taken with the small and relatively inexpensive Olympus TG6 which is perfect for a technophobe like me and I find it is really good at macro photography. I know you have a busy work life and may not have the time or inclination to add something like this to your armoury of equipment, but it might be worth considering.
Oh, I'm sorry I hadn't realised this was a forum for suggesting what I do with my money. Anyone else care to chip in?
