I'm afraid it is back to the drawing board with your Merveille du Jour, Alan! As you will have seen if you'd read the notes in the field guide, it is a common species of autumn which I'm sure you'll get in October but not in July. It will also be twice the size of the moth in your picture. What you have there is Marbled Green, which is itself quite a good catch although I think Oxfordshire does rather better for the species than do our other two counties.

ReplyDeleteAnd for the others, the Pinion looks to me like Lunar-spotted and you are correct with Udea lutealis.
