Wainscots and Grass Moths

Following on from Dave's comments it looks as if the Agriphila straminella are just starting here. Tristella has yet to appear.

I think I might have Pediasia contaminella?

Also I think I have a Silky Wainscot?

  1. Hello Mark, all three are correct. Pediasia contaminella is not a common moth so that's a nice garden find. Silky Wainscot seems to be very good at dispersal and turns up in all sorts of strange places. I had one deep inside oak/beech woodland in the Chilterns on the Bucks/Herts border at the weekend, a long way from its normal wetland habitat.
