Scalloped Hook-tip, and one I need help with

My first Scalloped Hook-tip since 2015 turned up in the garden moth trap last night.


I also found the moth below which I can't put a name to. Can anyone help?

  2. It would be useful if you could hang on to that moth for Peter, Steve. I suspect it is just a very odd-looking melanic Common Rustic but it would be well worthwhile getting it checked.

    1. Thanks Dave, the moth is retained for checking. I had several Common Rustics in the same catch, but this one stood out as being different - even the shape didn't seem quite right.
