They all count

Not for me a smart Dewick's Plusia or a beautiful Jersey Tiger.  I have to get the boring grey job with a price on its head that nobody else wants!

So, despite all the efforts to eradicate it, this moth's relentless march out from the capital continues apace, with this record probably the furthest north it has been found to date in our three counties.  I suspect we can all look forward to seeing it eventually.  As things currently stand it has become the garden's 983rd species of Lepidoptera, so at this rate the magic 1,000 ought to be well within reach quite soon and I look forward to getting honorary SSSI status...

    I've just heard of a single male from Little Chalfont, Bucks (20 July)which is not far from the few records of males seen last year. Larval webs were found last year in the Forestry Commission surveys East of Slough, which isn't that far away either.
