Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth

Martin Corley found a larva of Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth (Hemaris tityus), feeding on flowers of Field Scabious, on his farm near Faringdon. I'm not aware of any nearby records or colonies.

  1. Fantastic news, Steve. A moth I thought was long gone from our area!

  2. A most unexpected record, in spite of the wonderful micro habitat that Martin has created on his farm. Martin tells me there's one other record, of an adult seen in Lamborn in 2007.
