The remainder of last night's catch comprised 242 moths of 48 species. Wot, no Agriphila geniculea? Big numbers of these every night here in Chorleywood.
ReplyDeleteA. geniculea was the only grass moth I trapped last night, 25. I also had 8 Straw Underwing, but no Heart & Dart - interesting how different sites differ.
DeleteFor some reason I don't get geniculea here in any numbers at all (between 5 and 20 individuals per season is the norm and I've had a grand total of four so far this year).
ReplyDeleteNot that it really matters, but I've just realised that on my list above I failed to add in those moths left on the sheet when the trap was brought in at 5am and they included two additional species: Agonopterix alstromeriana (1) & Lesser Treble-bar (2).
