New to posting on this blog...and testing it with a couple of micros I'm unsure about, maybe Aethes smeathmannia and Phtheochroa sodaliana ?? plus a possible Spruce Carpet? All trapped 5 August. Any advice gratefully received! Apologies for photos in pots, but with the lids off, and for quality of pics.

Hello Linda, welcome to the blog! Spruce Carpet and Aethes smeathmanniana are correct. I'd suggest your first moth is more likely to be Cochylis hybridella, the second brood of which is around in some numbers at the moment. Phtheochroa sodaliana should be well over by now and is normally associated with chalk downland.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, very helpful.
ReplyDeleteC hybridella was my alternative. Should have stuck with that! Linda
