Red Belted and Orange tailed Clearwing have been around the garden in the last few days as usual but I have yet to see Hornet Clearwing here ever despite luring them nearby on the same street!

Which Nematapogon? - Longwick , Bucks
A little dusking in the garden last night surprisingly produced the attached Nematapogon. Given the enormous antennae and what appears to be a small black dot on each side I had assumed it was metaxella? Clarification would be great if anyone can.

That trio of Nematopogons can be quite tricky, Andrew, although swammerdamella is usually identifiable by its larger size. You are probably correct with metaxella although it would be useful to get one checked properly by genitalia. I've had all three in the garden here even though schwarziellus isn't typically a garden species.
