Westcott, Bucks

Another 15 new-for-year species turned up in the garden trap last night but by far the best of the bunch so far as I'm concerned was a smart Purple Clay.  This species is completely new for the site and becomes the 425th different macro-moth recorded here.

The others last night comprised Paraswammerdamia albicapitella, Scythropia crataegella, Archips xylosteana, Notocelia uddmanniana, Scoparia pyralella, Eudonia lacustrata, Ghost Moth, Silver-ground Carpet, Barred Straw, Barred Yellow, Blue-bordered Carpet, Swallow-tailed Moth, Short-cloaked and Miller.  Ghost Moth is not at all regular here and last night's visitor was a smart female.

Going back in time, I haven't mentioned the star item from the final garden trapping session before we went away on holiday.  On 25th May I got this smart male Fox Moth, only the second example ever recorded here.
