Currant Clearwing

I tried my FOR (for Red-tipped) and TIP lures today in the garden at Beenham, Berks from 10.00am onwards. No luck with the FOR lure but I had two Currant Clearwings to the TIP lure between 3.30 and 4.30pm.

This is going so well that I may try for Hornet Moth (HOR) or Raspberry (HYL). Who knows! I may even go mad and put out the TAB lure - for Dusky Clearwing - last seen in Berkshire in 1924 and presumed extinct, but I may be pushing my luck!!

  1. Hi Derek, I had success with Raspberry Clearwing last year at one of the PYO farms just to the north of Slough.

    1. Hi Robert,
Many thanks for the info. I may try some of the PYO farms round here (West Berks). Also could you let me know where on the canal that you saw the Orange-tailed as it's not one that I have seen. Is there somewhere that I can park nearby? I know Slough a bit as I used to work there on the Trading estate.
      Thanks Derek
