Hi Alan, this might be Common Grey (Scoparia ambigualis) as you suggest but to be honest it is rather too worn/damaged to be sure - especially the outer part of the wing needs to be clearly seen to gain a secure identification for this group of moths (sometimes called the dreaded scoparids!).
