A friend of mine found 2 chrysalis when digging under a Hibiscus a couple of weeks ago and sent me this text.
"Today one has hatched as in the photo.
I am struggling to identify it - can you throw any light on the question?

There is a smidgen of yellow showing, so presumably some sort of Yellow Underwing, but the unusual angle of the photo is confusing.

ReplyDeleteThat's a Large Yellow Underwing. It is worth getting to know the "faces" of that little group of species for when the traps get busier because they usually end up staring out at you from the egg boxes, having reversed into the holes.
