Diplodoma laichartingella

I found this little micro fluttering on my lounge ceiling this morning and potted it.  It is very lively and even after the fridge it was straight up and out of the pot, so my record photo is through the pot I'm afraid.  To me, it looks like Diplodoma laichartingella, which is not only a new moth but a new family for me.  Comments welcome.

  1. I'd love to see an image outside the pot, Adam, if you do manage to get one! One for Peter in any case, I think, mainly because that would be the first adult record for Bucks, the only other sighting being a larval case from Burnham Beeches 29 years ago.

  2. I’ve posted a clearer image now Dave. I don’t think there are any confusion species with this are there?

  3. Indeed, the head colour is clear now. I don't think there's anything it can be confused with - a very nice record!!

  4. Does it still need to go to Peter?

  5. As a county first adult and only the second record it would be good to have a voucher specimen and have the genitalia checked. I'm happy to have it to set and then get Peter to check the genitalia.
