Phtheochroa schreibersiana new to VC23

Last Saturday night 1st June 3 examples of this species came to light in Oxfordshire. One at Bletchingdon caught by Julian Howe (see photograph), one by myself at Bozedown east of Whitchurch-on-Thames and one 'next door' on the Hardwick Estate at a RDNHS meeting. The original of these is unclear but I am aware that it has had a resurgence in recent years.

  1. What great records! This is a smart little moth I've been keeping an eye out for in Bucks since one was trapped in June 2010 at Turville Heath (not far at all from Oxon), apparently the first example seen anywhere for some time. However, I've never found it and as far as I'm aware that remains the only record for VC24. I knew going away for a week of sun and sand on 1st June wasn't a good idea...
