Caught this two nights ago (10 August) in Oxford, the size and shape of double-striped pug, of which there were two others looking normal. Worn and with uneven black bordering looks smudged and most strange? An aberrant double-striped? It was very active - not a brilliant photo I fear.

ReplyDeleteI can't really make out much from that picture, I'm afraid. Quite a few moths seem to be producing odd-looking specimens at the moment, perhaps because they've been "cooked" a bit in the pupal stage due to the extreme heat we've had. One such that springs to mind is Single-dotted Wave which might at least fit the size you mention.
Thank you. It could indeed be, and we did have a normal single-dotted wave too. Sorry about the poor photo - the others were even less good!
