Hiding amoungst the great variety of Blastobasis adustella in my moth trap was this micro with attractive subtle colouring.  I am not getting anywhere close with identification so your help would be much appreciated once again.

  1. Hello Mary-Anne,
It is one of the Swammerdamia species (Yponomeutidae) and the coppery tinge to the scales in its cilia means that this is Swammerdamia pyrella.

  2. Thank you so much, Dave. I've had lots of Yponomeuta evonymella/cagnagella types but will now keep my eyes open for the Swammerdamia sp too. I understand that this one feeds on apple and there is an old bramley near the moth trap!
