Nothing exotic in my trap in Merton so far this year, but this micro appeared on Monday night. I'm sure it's an Agonopterix, maybe yeatiana? Sorry the photo is not sharp.
Hello Linda, I would automatically have said Agonopterix arenella, but I can see why you are thinking yeatiana because in your image there seems to be a hint of a white spot just beyond the central blotch even though it isn't ringed in black. Yeatiana is not all that common and isn't known from Bucks but that's probably an oversight because it has been recorded from all the surrounding counties including Oxon. If no-one else comments one way or the other here, it would be worth sending the picture to Martin Corley to see what he thinks.

ReplyDeleteThe 'white spot' only occurs on one wing and looks to me as if it's either a speck on the camera lens or something on the moth.
