I found this caterpillar the other day suspended from a foxglove leaf. Within a few minutes of taking the photo, it disappeared - presumably it dropped to the ground ready to pupate.
I think it may be a Lesser Yellow Underwing?

ReplyDeleteNot sure about species but it doesn't look very well! Not many larvae feed on Foxglove because it is poisonous but I see that Lesser Yellow Underwing is amongst the few which seem able to cope with the toxins.
