A couple of queries

Several fairly productive nights in my garden in Wolvercote, Oxfordshire, despite some quite heavy rain, and there have been some nice moths (Black Arches, which is always nice to see), though nothing terribly spectacular. A couple of macros which are giving me pause, and on which any help would be welcome.
I think the first is probably a White-point, as opposed to a Clay: the white dot looks pretty well-defined to me. The second seems likeliest to be a Dot Moth, but I'm not entirely convinced it isn't simply a rather strongly-marked Common Rustic: any thoughts?

  1. First one White-point second one Crescent

  2. Dot Moth is a definite "black and white" moth, Steve, never brown like this. In my opinion Crescent is in any case a much nicer garden record!

  3. Thanks, Martin and Dave -- agreed, Crescent is a nice record, and not a species I've had very often previously!
