A few migrants and stragglers in Longwick

The last few days have seen a couple of Rusty Dot Pearl and Diamond Back plus my first Gypsy Moth (seemingly like many others). Unless its habitat requirements have changed the Catoptria Pinella seems to have strayed somewhat to the Vale - an attractive  first for the garden. Had my first Red Underwing of the autumn last night which was being kept company by a Poplar Hawk - the first for a while.

  1. Catoptria pinella is fairly well spread in our area, Andrew, and I'm surprised you haven't had it before! Its larvae feed on grasses.
