id Help please ?acrobasis and ?wave

I'd be grateful for id help please - ?acrobasis type 1st two same moth may be too worn for id; is 3rd photo acrobasis consociella?  The wave is one I thought I should be able to identify but it doesn't quite fit with possibilities I've explored - I'm sure will be obvious to readers of this blog ... Thank you for sharing your expertise.

  1. Hello Mary-Anne,

I think the first two are Phycita roborella (with that swelling at the base of the antennae) and I agree that the third should be Acrobasis advenella. I'm really not sure about the Cyclophora species, though, which looks to me quite good for Jersey Mocha but that seems so unlikely! Hopefully one of the experts will be able to comment.

  2. Isn't the Cyclophora a 2nd gen Clay Triple-lines?

    1. That's what I thought at first but the more you look at these things the more you wonder... It is quite "spotty" overall and the main band avoids those white spots on the hind-wings.

  3. This is certainly one of those needing careful scrutiny bit I think Martin is right. Mainly because the forewing apex is too attenuated for ruficiliaria. There is some variation in most of the characters that separate the more difficult species in this genus. However, although I don't know what county it was recorded in if it was VC 23 I wouldn't be able to accept it as ruficiliaria from this.
