Micro IDs please

First one, not a great picture, if anything the shot not in the pot is worse. I've had to lighten the pictures considerably to see any detail. I still have it.

Can someone help with this Scop? I've had a number of these now.

This one I can't decide between E. mercurella and lacustrata

  1. Hi Mark,
The tortrix might well be an Endothenia, possibly ustulana because it is so dark, but those pictures aren't good enough to get a positive ID.

  2. Hi Mark, the first Scoparid I would suggest is E. lacustrata by virtue of the dark wedge that separates the subterminal white 'X' and the separation of the dark marks outside the ante-median line from that line - the second is not dark enough to be E. mercurella, but I'm not certain it is E. lacustrata either. For tips on separating these species, see the excellent 'Common Micro-moths of Berkshire' available as a free download (see link on side bar)
