Two new

Two newcomers for my garden list on the second of the Moth Nights: Crescent Plume and Cypress Carpet. I wonder if anyone is correlating the rapid spread of the latter with our national fondness for Leyland Cypress hedges. Did privet do the same in the past for the Hawk et alMartin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon

  1. Hi Martin,
Cypress Carpet is not spreading rapidly enough in my direction! It is still awaited on my garden list and in fact I've yet to see it anywhere here in Bucks, so perhaps the spread locally is rather patchy. A look at the map in the national Atlas (data to 2016) shows that we're still at the northern edge of its range. I'm sure it'll get here eventually...

  2. Cypress Carpet well-established in Denham - 8 already this year (and in last two years a regular visitor)
. Maybe a gale to blow them up to Dave?!

  3. Three Cypresses in Iver too this year - the first time I have seen them
