My first footman of the year is a Buff Footman rather than Dingy? I hope to see more species this year, last year seemed very poor. The other I think is a Least Black Arches?
Hi Mark, Have a look back and see when you first recorded either Dingy or Buff Footman in previous years. I'd be very surprised if you had many records for either of them before the last week of June or first week of July. That's an Orange Footman which is always the first of the common ones to appear, often from the end of April onwards and even in this late year it has been flying locally for at least the last couple of weeks.
thanks Dave, I don't usually get Orange Footman, actually looking back over the past few years is usually only Common or Scarce. It's nice to have the first Footman of the year, hope there will be more in numbers and variety later this year.

The other moth is indeed Least Black Arches.
