Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth - again!

The speed with which this delightful day-flying moth is spreading into our area is quite remarkable.  The individual below was photographed yesterday by Trevor Allen in his garden in Marlow, Bucks, nectaring from what looks like aubretia.  It is the first record of this nationally scarce species in Bucks since 1950!

  1. Great to have this species back in Bucks.
    Now we need the broad-bordered version to re-appear.
    There was a time when both species were present at Bernwood.
