A possible Engrailed and a micro

I wondered if the moth below is a 2nd generation Engrailed? Caught in the garden trap last night, and the fw measures 14mm.
The attractive micro below was also from the same catch. Is it one of the Endothenia species?

  1. Hello Steve,
For me the top photo is a Willow Beauty. The other one is definitely an Endothenia but it would need closer attention to get to species. They can occasionally be ID'd based on a careful assessment of size and looks, especially gentianaeana which is the largest of the trio (oblongana and marginana being the other two), but usually it comes down to dissection.

    1. Thanks Dave. I did think Willow Beauty originally, but was side-tracked by its smaller than usual size.
      I have retained the Endothenia.
