I got my first ever Varied Coronet a few weeks ago and it seemed fairly clearly not a Marbled Coronet (which I got a few years back). This one took me a bit longer to determine, looking at it again it is quite a bit different from the first one.

Looks good for Marbled Coronet to me.
ReplyDeleteI do also agree with Dave and Martin and did right from the start.
DeleteWhen I first typed the message I put "Varied". I then previewed the message and thought "silly, you've put the wrong one" and changed it to Marbled and published.
I was right all along, but in the end put the wrong name.
Sorry for any confusion.
I blame the heat!
That is Varied Coronet for me. You can trace the central white band all the way from one side of the moth to the other with no interruptions.
ReplyDeletethanks both
ReplyDeleteI'm wih Dave on this one. The blotch near the wing tip is unusually bright for compta but the central band is in the right place.
