Lunar Hornet Moth

Some of you may already know that a pheromone lure for Lunar Hornet Moth is now available from ALS (see here) and I'm very pleased to say that my first opportunity to try it out this morning met with success.  Two males appeared at 10.30am about 15 minutes after I'd put the lure out in a trap.  A very pleasing new addition to the garden moth list and it certainly beats looking at holes in sallow trunks, which is as close as I'd ever got to seeing this species until today!

  1. Me too! Astonished that it turned up in the garden. The pheromone is going to change our understanding of how common and widespread this wonderful moth is.
