Lesser-spotted Pinion

Can someone confirm this? I'm thinking Lesser-spotted Pinion rather than Lunar-Spotted although I have had both in the past.

  1. Lunar-spotted for me, Mark. Not the clearest of images but it is sitting wrongly for Lesser-spotted and it doesn't have the whitish cross-lines or the obvious pale area with a darker spot in the middle (looking a bit like an air force roundel) that should be between them.

  2. Thanks Dave. I came to the same conclusion, not sure why I went for lesser-spotted (which I've also had), different ground colour, lack of that bullseye, no pale cross-lines - homed in too much on the white blotch I guess.

  3. If it helps, I haven't seen Lesser-spotted yet this year. I have had the odd earlier record but they usually start in the second half of July and go on into August.
