A few from this week. The first I thought was Scoparia pyralella? The second one I thought might be a Rustic rather than Uncertain. But it's the first one I've thought was a Rustic, I know they come out later than the Uncertain but would they be this late? Finally I've gone back and forth between Willow Beauty and Mottled Beauty.

  1. Hello Mark,

The scoparid looks to me like Eudonia mercurella. Scoparia pyralella has been on the wing since mid-May and must be coming towards the end of its flight season now. The few that I'm still seeing are mostly rather faded, but when fresh it is the most "colourful" of this group with clearer whitish bands and head than the others, while the darker areas are mixed with shades of brown as well as black.
