Green-bindled Crescent caterpiilar?

hi, I found this as I was emptying out a pot of compost that had been left out. I'm thinking it's a Green-brindled Crescent about to pupate? Do they need soft soil to burrow in, I put it just on under the surface on one of the flower borders.

    I think that looks good for the very cryptic camouflage pattern on Green-brindled Crescent.
