It'll improve ... sometime!

Here at Westcott the night of the 14th brought in just a single Treble Lines, the 15th was slightly better with Cnephasia sp (1), Chocolate-tip (2), Muslin Moth (2), Turnip Moth (1), Heart & Dart (1) & Treble Lines (3), while last night (16th) was still unexciting even though very slightly more productive:  Cnephasia sp (1), Broken-barred Carpet (1), Common Pug (1), Seraphim (1), Brimstone Moth (3), Muslin Moth (4), Heart & Dart (3), Hebrew Character (1), Poplar Grey (1) & Treble Lines (9).  Last night would have been much better if the forecast cloud cover had been present but, of course, the Met Office got it wrong as always and we dropped down to about 3C here under clear skies.  The period from tonight until next weekend looks rather more promising if only because the daytime temperatures will be rather higher so it will take longer to cool down after dark.

Daytime moth activity in the garden has been very limited, with Cauchas rufimitrella added to the garden year-list on the 14th when one was found on a daisy in the lawn, while another example of Endothenia nigricostana was seen in typical blindingly obvious pose on the 16th sunning itself on a leaf of Hedge Woundwort.
