Two projects you may be able to help with

Saoirse Pottie (Saoirse.Pottie.2020@live.rhul.ac.uk) is a student at Royal Holloway, University of London who is looking for assistance with the two projects mentioned below.  Please use the links to complete the surveys if you are in a position to do so.

The first project is looking at the Box Moth Cydalima perspectalis and the different colour morphs we get in the UK. There are three known colour morphs; colour morphs may be associated with habitat use, disease resistance, susceptibility to insecticides, reproductive success or predator avoidance. I am interested in understanding if the distribution of these morphs is linked to its establishment.

The second project is looking at establishing the distribution and usage of pheromone traps in the UK. It was really exciting to see how the number of records for clearwing species was reflected by the availability to purchase pheromone lures in the Moth Atlas. However, without having a clear picture of pheromone trapping effort it is difficult to directly attribute the increase in records to the use of pheromone lures. I am hoping this survey will help to quantify the value of pheromone lures and better understand the species true distribution.
